The Wollemi Pine (Wollemia nobilis) is a member of the conifer family (Araucariaceae) and was first discovered in 1994 in the Wollemi National Park, 150 km west of Sydney. The tree is thought to date back to the dinosaur era, 100 million years ago. Some of the living trees are believed to be 500 - 1000 years old. The Fordwich vineyard backs onto the Brokenback Ranges, part of the Wollemi National Park..

Bainton Family Wines named their premier range after this historic tree.
